Strategic Plan

♦ The Strategic Plan of Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Post Graduate (Autonomous) College, Shivaji Nagar, Bhopal, has been designed to provide direction and facilitate progress in the institution by providing a framework for the achievement of goals. It provides the institution with a firm foundation for its constant upgradation. Keeping the Vision and Mission of the institution in mind, the strategic plan has been designed to focus on the priorities set up as goals for the accomplishment by the stakeholders involved in the process of development in the College.

♦ Since its inception in 1970, the institution has been fostering an eco-system of academic excellence for its students. The vision of the College is “to create new paradigms of progressive, inclusive and ethical education”. To make this vision a reality, the College aims “to empower young women with multi skill education and prepare them for a dynamic role in society”. The institution practices Decentralization and Participative Management by providing a restrictive autonomy to the various academic and administrative activities which are carried out under the supervision of the Principal. With the goal of achieving academic excellence, the Principal appoints the Deans of the various faculties who supervise the Heads of the Departments who in turn work in coordination with the faculty members to promote excellence in scholarly productivity. The idea is to use education as a source of continual evolution of its stakeholders for the welfare of the society. The Conveners and Members of more than 70 committees discharge an energetically pervasive role as motivators of culturally and socially conscious activities.

♦ The College has been a pioneer institution in M.P., having attained autonomous status on 25.7.1995 and has had three autonomy reviews since then. There is a separate Autonomous Examination Cell which looks after the entire examination and evaluation process. It has a structured organizational matrix. The Controller of the Examination Cell who is appointed by the Principal is accountable for successful conducting of the entire examination process. The Controller is aided by the other members of the Cell. The Examination cell has developed a very credible and confidential system of assessment which is continuous and comprehensive. It prepares an annual strategic plan, which is reflected in the Academic Calendar and the working of its various organs. The cell reviews its plan if conditions so demand. The students are informed about the entire process by holding orientation programs and through their Tutor-Guardians. The college has a record of timely declaration of examination results and awarding of degrees. The results are displayed on the college website and Notice Boards. It aims to organize sensitization and awareness activities for teachers, students and the staff of the college.

♦ As gateways to knowledge, culture and research, a library plays a fundamental role in higher education. The entire academic and research process is fully dependent on the Library. It is the vital component, which develops the teaching –learning and research activity. Keeping in mind that the library is the “soul” of any institution special attention is given to its continuous upgradation. ♦ The institution aims at creating a meaningful connection between the teachers and the learners. When teachers connect with the students, they build a rapport in the classroom and foster student engagement in the learning process. The Tutor Guardian scheme acts to bridge the gap between teachers and students by assimilating teachers as the guardians of students. Under this scheme, every teacher shoulders the responsibility of a group of about 30 students each for all their academic, administrative and personal assistance. That teacher has to perform the role of a guardian by taking the account of their performance in the evaluation methods, keeping the records of their attendance and regularity in the classes and getting feedback by other concerned teachers.

♦ The institution mobilizes its funds received from the State Government, UGC, RUSA, World Bank, Autonomous and Janbhagidari in a well-planned manner in accordance with the approval of various statutory committees constituted by the Principal. Funds received from the State Government are spent on payment of salary of teaching and non-teaching staff. For every financial year, a Finance Committee prepares a budget keeping in mind the developmental criteria of the institution, and accordingly provisions are made. The UGC Committee proposes a budget for the allocation of funds under various heads to the Finance Committee. On its approval, the UGC deploys the fund and maintains a record of it. Likewise, all the above-mentioned committees try to utilize the sanctioned amount and make the optimal utilization of the available financial resources as per the Government Rules of Madhya Pradesh. The procedure of purchase is also very transparent. All the Departments and Committees invite proposals, as per requirements, within a specific period. On receiving the proposals, tenders are invited in an open bid. The best bid is selected in the presence of the finance committee. The concerned committee maintains a record of expense and balance.

♦ The institution aims at a holistic approach to education that goes beyond core academics, and taps the physical, social, intellectual, emotional, artistic, creative as well as spiritual potential of the learner during the process of learning. To achieve this aim all stakeholders viz. the Principal, the Teaching Staff, the Administrative Staff, as well as students adopt a comprehensive approach to education by inculcating human values and instilling a sense of professional ethics at every level in our institution.(Keeping this as the core concern, a handbook of “Human Values and Professional Ethics” is also being prepared as an integral part of our education system). The broader aim of the institution is to set up an egalitarian society that integrates the individuals of all classes, culture and capabilities.

It aims to sensitize the youth towards the marginalized sections of the society, and to inculcate in them a sense of responsibility towards the society. It also aims to promote gender parity in society and to use education as a source of continual evolution of its stakeholders for the welfare of society. The strategic goals for the institution in this area are to create awareness regarding Gender Based Violence and Women’s Right and Gender Equity. With this aim, the institution plans to set up a Legal Aid Clinic in the near future. The institution visualizes the Legal Aid Clinic as a program that would create awareness in the students regarding their rights and remedies under the law. It would aim to help the students understand the socio-economic impediments towards accessing justice. It would also help the staff and the students to reach out and render their services to the marginalized and vulnerable communities.
